On February 25, sinopec information Office announced that the first 3,000-ton/year high-standard polybutene-1 industrial demonstration plant in China started operation smoothly in Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Branch, and produced nearly 100 tons of qualified products. The successful industrial demonstration of polybutene-1 technology marks another major technological breakthrough made by Sinopec in the field of high-end synthetic new materials, making Sinopec the fourth leader in the world and the first in China with the ability to continuously and stably produce polybutene-1 products.



It is reported that the device is a 1000-ton high standard polybutene-1 production device independently developed technology application, with an annual design of 2,400 tons of polybutene-1 homopolymer and 600 tons of copolymer.


Polybutene-1 products, with excellent creep resistance, stress cracking resistance and impact resistance, tensile strength and impact strength are 6-10 times and 3-4 times of low density polyethylene, not easy to crack, impact resistance and tasteless, odorless, non-toxic, mainly including homopolymer and random copolymer two categories: Among them, higher standard polybutene-1 homopolymer is better than polyethylene, enjoying the reputation of "plastic gold", very suitable for hot water pipes and other pipes. The random copolymer of polybutene -1 is suitable for the production of film products.


However, due to the difficulties in polymerization regulation and processing of butene-1, only Three companies in the world -- Bassel of the Netherlands, Mitsui of Japan and Icahn of South Korea -- can produce butene-1 before, and all domestic high-end products of butene-1 rely on imports.


Since 2010, Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company, Engineering Construction Co., LTD., East China University of Science and Technology, Ningbo New Materials Research Institute of Sinopec and other units, Basic theory in polybutylene - 1, high-performance catalyst technology, homogeneous ontology olefin polymerization technology, polymer depth waved off technology, high-end products polybutylene - 1 joint research, give full play to the new material field combat advantage, intensive reorganization (re-examination), a number of technical and engineering problems in built in zhenhai refining industrial demonstration plant 3000 tons/year.


The device was built on August 30 last year. After several times of technological process optimization and optimization and testing, it entered the stage of substantive trial production before the Spring Festival of this year, and recently realized the success of driving. Cao Jingyang, process technology director of Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Synthetic Materials Department, said that the overall operation of the plant is stable, the key process indicators are normal, and the product quality has reached the expected target.


It is reported that in the next step, Sinopec will anchor the strategic goal of high-level science and technology self-reliance and self-improvement, bravely undertake the task of national strategic science and technology force, continue to increase investment in high-end materials RESEARCH and development, develop more high-end polybutene-1 new brand, expand the application of polybutene-1 products. It provides strong support for pipe, medical and health, food packaging and other key materials in the industry to independently control and enhance market competitiveness.
